The Skyview Winter Guard Places Third at Fossil Ridge
Congratulations to the Skyview Winter Guard for placing third at the Fossil Ridge competition, held this past Saturday, February 8 in Fort Collins. According to Guard Director Kirby Dillmann, "The team had another strong show, and the audience was appreciative. This was our first show in uniform, and just putting it on made a huge difference both in impact and member confidence. I'm excited for the team going forward, as our next show will be our Winter Guard International (WGI) regional debut, a historic performance for our district." The winter guard will compete again on February 22nd at the WGI Denver Regional, held at Mountain Range High School. Skyview Winter Guard is a two time state champion, in years 2018 and 2019, respectively."

Skyview Winter Guard Continues its Tradition of Excellence
Congratulations to the Skyview Winter Guard for their 3rd place win at their first competition of the 2020 season, held at Mesa Ridge High School in Colorado Springs this past Saturday, February 1. Skyview Winter Guard is a two time state champion, having won back to back championships in 2018 and 2019, respectively. Winter Guard Director Kirby Dillmann is excited by the prospects of this year’s guard team stating, "Once teams are established in competition, around the 3rd-5th year of existence, that is when you begin to take risks in your productions. We are attempting a very difficult show, and the students are rising to the challenge. Our early success shows that our risk is paying off. I am confident our strong work ethic will continue to propel the team onward as we continue forward in our season. We are very grateful for the support from the Performing Arts and our other fellow educators in Mapleton." The winter guard will compete again this Saturday, February 8, at 7:25 pm at Fossil Ridge High School in Fort Collins. Good luck Guard, we know you will make our community proud!

Inaugural Show of Mapleton's Got Talent Jr. Kicks Off the School Year With Rousing Performances by Mapleton 5-8 Grade Students
Last night, eleven of Mapleton's best and brightest 5th through 8th grade students, competed for bragging rights in this, our "First Annual Mapleton's Got Talent Jr." talent show. Our students showed initiative, they showed perseverance, and they showed exactly why this talent show was so important to them, and why this talent show is important to our community. Students sang, danced, waved flags, played musical instruments and contorted their bodies in such a way, that our judges were truly impressed and mesmerized by the quality of talent that exists within our small Mapleton community. Below is a list of our top four finalists and their finishes:
First Place: Kacey C., 8th Grader, Clayton Partnership School, singing "Hallelujah" by Leonard Cohen
Second Place: Saira B., 8th Grader, York International School, Singing and playing Ukelele to "Dear Person Who Broke My Heart" by Coraline Manning
Third Place: Serenity M., 5th Grader, Adventure Elementary, Performing a contemporary dance (contortion)
"Rising Star Award": Jeweliana B., 8th Grader, York International School, Singing "Someone Like You" by Adele
Please congratulate these amazing young performers for all of their hard work. Our hope is that these incredible youngsters will continue in their pursuit of honing their craft, so that they may participate in future Mapleton talent shows. You can see last night's winner, Kacey C. in April, as an exhibition act for our high school talent show, "Mapleton's Got Talent 2020: High School Edition".
