3rd Grade- Katie Meier
Hi, my name is Katie Meier! This is my sixth year teaching at Monterey as a third-grade teacher, and I could not be more excited about this year! This is my ninth year teaching. Prior to teaching third grade, I taught 4th and 5th grade in other Colorado school districts. I went to school at the University Of Colorado at Boulder (go Buffs!) and received my teaching degree along with a degree in psychology. I'm a Colorado native and grew up near Boulder. Outside of teaching, I like to do kickboxing, yoga, and hiking, and I love just enjoying nature! I'm looking forward to a great year and spending time with your amazing kids!

3rd Grade- Bobbie Kuminka
Hello, my name is Ms. K! My start in education began as I volunteered at my neighborhood school supporting students on their academic journey. Seeing students excel sparked my passion for teaching. So, I went to Adams State to earn my teaching degree. I have been in education for the last 20 years as a 1st, 3rd, 5th, and 6th-grade teacher, as well as a Reading Interventionist. For the past 26 years, I have lived in Colorado which has given me the opportunity to enjoy the great outdoors. Some of my favorite outdoor activities are taking walks, fishing, paddle boarding with my grandchildren, and gardening, a.k.a. pulling weeds. But … my most favorite thing is a good dessert!

5th Grade- Taylor Strupp
My name is Ms. Strupp and I teach 5th grade here at Monterey! I will be teaching both math and science this year to all 5th graders. I am passionate about teaching young minds how the world around them works! This is my second year teaching, and I am so grateful that I get to teach and be a member of this community. I graduated from Colorado State University–Pueblo where I played softball. In my free time, I love to hang out with my puppy named Stark, go to the movies, binge tv, and attend concerts. I believe that it is crucial for teachers to be supportive mentors that guide students on their journey of growth and success. I can’t wait for this year!
